A new use for the Shure 55SH, AKA The ‘Elvis’ Mic
If you were inspired by probably the worlds most recognisable, most iconic (and most copied) microphone you may consider buying one – to perform with, or even just to look at – let’s be honest, it is a beautiful design. In the past we have come across people with Shure tattoos, people who’ve buried, burned and used Shure microphones as hammers to test their durability….however, I don’t think anyone has ever gone to this length and built a custom built computer.
Click here to see the amazing lengths this gentleman went to in order to recreate the infamous Shure 55SH microphone in the form of a computer.
Music Producers Guild Awards 2011 Winners
We’d like to say a huge congratulations to all of the winners of this years MPG Awards. A great night was had by all. It was wonderful to see artists such as Chris Martin of Coldplay, Plan B, Gary Numan, The Coral and Alison Goldfrapp in attendance to pay their respects to the unsung heroes of music – producers, engineers, masterers; and let’s not forget the studios themselves.
Shure & The Music Producers Guild Awards 2011
When we were contacted by the Music Producers Guild in 2009 to be part of this new organisation, we jumped at the chance. The MPG is the first of its kind in the UK and aims to celebrate the often unknown heroes of music; from music producers to engineers, mixers and re-mixers.
The Awards themselves take place in February and the shortlist has just been announced.
We are proud sponsors of the Live Music Production category, and are happy to see long time Shure users The Who in the shortlist. It is also great to see other Shure users in the Shortlist too, including Simon Gogerly – we wish him luck!
…the actual Awards themselves are provided by Shure – and they are a special limited edition Gold version of our 55SH microphone.
I’ll be attending the awards so hope to take a few backstage pictures – keep your eye on the blog!
